Detective William J. Burns indicated on Friday that his investigation has failed to substantiate the charges of bad character brought against Leo M. Frank by the state. The detective expressed his willingness to receive any information derogatory to Frank's character that anyone may possess. "I promise to thoroughly investigate any report against Frank, which is given to me, regardless of who makes the report or how far back the incident may have been in Frank's life," he stated.

While Burns had nothing else to say, it is clear that the detective has not yet found derogatory character evidence against Frank. If he had, he would not be willing to devote his time to investigating any old charges that might be brought to his attention. Burns and his agents are still pursuing the investigation, and the detective's report is not expected before next week.

On Friday morning, Burns had a long conference with Mrs. Leo M. Frank, the wife of the condemned man, and Rabbi David Marx. The conference lasted more than half an hour, but the principals refused to discuss its content.
